Highfield Inn

This weekend Gord & I went to a fabulous inn north of Toronto to celebrate Gord's 50th birthday. This is a photo of the dining room sunporch. We were actually the only people there for most of the weekend. Several more for Saturday lunch, but otherwise we had an amazing chef all to ourselves. You'll see him later. Lots of horses in this area of the province. These two were part of a larger group of 7 who were actually quite friendly.
We did a lot of hiking/walking while there. This is a beaver pond a couple of kilometres away...actually we didn't see a beaver lodge, but the dam was there, so I don't think they lived there any more. We enjoyed watching the birds: lots of redwing blackbirds, redheaded woodpeckers. The inn is at the top of this hill. We liked the fence.
Here is chef Mark. Each meal we had a choice of several different appetizers and entrees, plus a choice of desserts. All were probably among the most amazing meals I have ever had. We don't usually go to fancy restaurants, so this was such a treat! Here he is holding beef tenderloin grilled to perfection, with grilled veggies and crispy potatoes. Memorable.

Sounds (& looks)absolutely wonderful! Apparently age doesn't help the memory so we were blissfully unaware that one of Rick's little brothers hit the big 5-0. Oh, oh, we're gettin' old!!!
Happy belated, Gord, & many, many more!
Love, Vange (& Rick)
