Hannah's Bon Voyage
Last Tuesday evening we escorted Hannah to the airport (and Chelsea's parents did the same). They were finally ready to be off on their grand adventure to Europe! Gee, do you think she looks excited here?
Some of our children have had haircuts since you last saw them! Erika, in particular, finally did what she talked about doing 2-3 years ago: she had her head almost shaved. She donated the hair to Locks of Love, and along with a friend who also shaved her head, and some other friends who made goodies for a bake sale, they raised over $300 for a women's shelter in Guelph. This was just their own idea, not organized by the University or anything. She is very happy with her new look...ummm, we're getting used to it. :)
We wandered around the airport for a while, postponing the inevitable (for the parents), and heightening the excitement (for the girls).
And then they were off to Rome! (Well, after they checked their huge bags.) After 5 days in Rome, tonight they arrived in Florence. Then it's off to Venice, Milan, Nice, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, London, Edinburgh... They will take about a month to get to London, then spend time with some of Chelsea's relatives in Scotland, ending up on the isle of Islay (pronounced eye-la) with Chelsea's grandma for a couple of weeks. They fly home from Glasgow on June 24th. We miss her already, but I am so thrilled that she can have this adventure!
