Winterlude

Last weekend we left our family behind for family day and we escaped to Ottawa to participate in their winter festival...Winterlude.

The main attraction of Winterlude is to skate on the Rideau Canal. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to because of all the mild weather the week before. But on Sunday they opened the canal and I think everyone in Ottawa came to skate.

It was very cold and we both wore all the layers we had brought along. The ice was very bumpy but it was fun just to say we had skated the Rideau. The only opened 4 km. of the canal but that was far enough.

The other thing that everyone must do is stand inline for a piece of deep fried dough covered in sugar that is called a "Beaver Tail". Actually the line moved very quickly and befor we knew it we were enjoying this cullinary masterpiece. (see picture below)
